First came the poem, then followed the paintings.

Below you can read my poem, "The Effort Was Grand," which inspired my body of work of the same name.

I wrote this poem to collect my thoughts around efforts given and received- those that are overlooked, ignored, revered and the feelings we are left with after our exertion.

How (despite trying to distinguish the two), effort is eternally wrapped up in self-acceptance.
